AVON REPRESENTATIVE!

Being a full time student and only working 9 hours at my part time job means that I don't have a lot of money to splash out on the things I love.
I was watching my usual programmes one day last week and I stubbled across an Avon advert. Could it be possible that i could combine my love of make up with some marketing experience? Apparently so.
Not wanting to waste any time i jumped straight on to my computer to register my interest. I then waited a few days before being contacted by an Avon Team Leader. We  booked an appointment on Tuesday 22nd February with each other to discuss further what the job would entail.
The girl was really nice, she explained what the scheme was and gave me all the information needed, she also gave me 20 catalogues to help get me started.
Basically I am considered 'self employed' as an Avon Representative, this means that I can work as many hours as I want, as often as I want. I also receive 20% commission on everything that is ordered from the catalogues I deliver. I can receive dramatic discount on Avon products I can buy cosmetics two brochures in advance. FANTASTIC!
I have three weeks to deliver my catalogue to my houses before the next issue comes out. I worked out I have about 170 houses, so I chose to collect my catalogue three days after it had been delivered to any one house. (e.g deliver catalogue on Wednesday collect on Friday)
I spent all of yesterday afternoon and most of yesterday evening organising my catalogues, I also explained a little bit about who I am.
I also added a little incentive to get the ball rolling and establish my customers!
I chose to put each pack in a freezer bag to save my brochures from getting wet, it also keeps everything organised and looks quite professional too!
Here is what each pack looks like :)
Each pack contains:
♡ Welcome Letter - Explaining who I am and what the magazine is about
♡ A Reminder of when the magazine will be collected - Friday 25th February; I've also stated not to throw the magazines away; I'll be able to recycle them for my next twenty houses.
♡ A form to say whether or not the customers would want any further magazines from Avon  - Hopefully this allows me to distinguish who my actual customers are, and therefore avoid wasting time on people who aren't interested
♡ The catalogue - Brochure 6
♡ Special Offer - Spend £20 receive 10% off
♡ Clearance Sale Catalogue

I have delivered my magazine to my first twenty houses this morning so hopefully I should start getting my first set of orders from Friday. Fingers crossed!

I'd love to know your thoughts.
What do you think about this idea?
Are you an Avon Representative?
Do you have any advice or tips to help me get started?

3 for 2 in SuperDrug.

Generally speaking unless there is something really specific I need, I normally buy something from Boots compared to SuperDrug.
However, I noticed when walking through my local town centre that SuperDrug had '3 for 2' offers on many of its brands. Not wanting to be rude and ignore the bright posters in the window I felt it necessary to see what they had to offer.
Being only a local town centre store, for the actual size of the shop, I was very impressed with the amount of brands and products available in the store itself.
Being a Student, I only wear my expensive make up like Clinique and MAC at night, weekends or on special occasions, so I'm always on the hunt for a purse friendly make up alternative to wear during college or work.
With it only being a local shop and therefore not being very busy, I had the advantage of spending my time exploring each brand and picking out my products carefully, would I really wear it? Does it really suit me? Do I really need it?
After spending time on each of the brands I found myself attracted to the Max Factor stand. I've always adored their mascara, I swear by the Max Factor False Lash Mascara - i really haven't found a better alternative; high street or designer.  So I was interested to see if the foundations and other products were of the same quality as their mascaras.
Here's what was bought..

♡ Max Factor  Pan Stick in 'Nouveoux Beige - 13' RRP 6.99

I was instantly attracted to the unique packaging of this product, it was so small and thin - ideal to carry around in your handbag. It also has a little twist mechanism, similar to that of a lipsticks.

Max Factor Second Skin Foundation in - 'Natural - 070' RRP 12.99
I loved the consistency of this foundation and the colour matches my skin tone completely.

Max Factor False Lash Mascara RRP 10.99

my favourite mascara

I then made my way over to the false lashes section.
I instantly found myself looking at the Girls Aloud lashes.
Having all the five members eyelashes available in store, it was very tempting to just pick up Cheryl Cole's lashes and make my way to the checkouts before i got tempted by anything else, but after analysing the actual shape of the eyelashes themselves I personally thought that Kimberley's eyelashes looked more my style.
I'll just have to wait till next time for Cheryl's..

Review will be soon

My First Blog

I've had my blog for a few weeks now, but being so busy with coursework (I'm currently in my last year of A Levels) my blog has taken a back seat. However, with my coursework finished and my January retakes out the way, I can finally get cracking!
My name is Katie, I'm eighteen years old from the South East of England.
I'm completely obsessed with all things involving vanity, and this will be primarily what I will talk about on my blog. My love first started when i was the tender age of thirteen, five years later and our relationship has only gone from strength to strength.
Clothes and accessories have been a huge passion of mine. I'm only 5ft2 though, so I am slightly limited when it comes to shops.
Hair is also very important to me, I have died my hair since the age of eleven and have used near enough every product known to man! I have also been a regular user of clip-in hair extensions, but i am proud to say, after a good three years of hair-growing, it is of a length that now extensions are no longer required!
My money is mostly spent on Make-Up, my favourite being Clinique when I have the dosh to splash out, although I've recently found myself spending more and more (particularly on lipsticks - they have the most amazing collection!) on MAC. Being a student however, and only working part-time, means that more often then not, I have to settle with Drug Store products from Boots and Super Drug, so I hope to offer more purse friendly make-up alternatives.
When I'm not spending time shopping, I have a huge passion for Photography, as part of my eighteenth birthday present I was given a Nikon D3000 camera which I absolutely love. I also have Photoshop CS5.
As stated above I'm in my last year of sixth form studying Business Studies, English Literature and Media Studies. I've just finished applying for universities to study 'TV and Film Production', I'm also looking at alternatives such as Apprenticeships to study Business, particularly marketing.
I hope to one day be able to combine my love for beauty, media and business. Gok Wan beware!!
